How to Wear Your Chemo Hat Flatteringly – Not Too High, Not Too Low

Hoe hoog of laag draag jij je chemo mutsje?
We often get this question: what’s the most flattering way to wear a chemo hat or scarf? Should you show your forehead, pull the hat down over your ears, and what about your neckline? Let’s walk you through the essentials – pun fully intended.

Every head is different. Maybe you have an oval face, a long narrow one, or more of a round shape? Whatever your face type, we design our chemo hats and scarves to fit beautifully on everyone. Of course, it’s up to you how you prefer to wear yours. Just keep in mind that your styling does influence the shape of your face and the expression you radiate.

Do you wear your chemo hat too low?

If you pull your chemo hat down to or over your eyebrows, the fabric and print can hide too much of your gaze. Your eyes may end up looking a little dull, as if you’re hiding away. And there’s no need for that! Dare to show yourself and use your hat as a stylish accessory, not camouflage.

Or maybe too high?

When you place the edge of your hat right at your hairline, you’re actually wearing it too high. This makes your face look longer and exposes a lot of “bare skin,” which isn’t very flattering. Don’t you agree our Rosette la Vedette model Tine also looks a lot older in the photos that way? Definitely best avoided!

This is how your face shines best in a chemo hat or scarf

1/ Forehead: position your hat about two fingers above your eyebrows. That way it sits halfway between your brows and your hairline.

2/ Ears: leave your earlobes free – and show off those pretty earrings! – but cover the upper part of your ears.

3/ Neckline: make sure your hairline is nicely covered.

4/ Finally, check the result in the mirror and adjust to your own taste. Get ready for those compliments to roll in!

One last styling trick for your new hat?

In this video, Tine shows you a handy trick to adapt the Marlene hat to your face shape. Not a fan of a perfectly round brim? Do you have a fuller round face? Then create a small extra fold in the brim at your forehead: pull the fabric of the brim up a little and fold it back down. Sounds complicated? It really isn’t. Just watch Tine demonstrate it for you.
