Colours are often said to have special powers. Blue inspires, red boosts appetite… Whether colours truly have psychological effects is one thing. What is certain, is that they create visual effects. And green is an absolute winner if you’re receiving cortisone during chemo or dealing with hot flushes.
Struggling with red cheeks during chemotherapy?
Green has the wonderful ability to tone down redness. Think of green-based concealers or foundations: they’re the perfect ally for anyone wanting to soften rosiness or couperose in the face.
During chemotherapy, hot flushes are very common. Your cheeks — or your whole face — can turn bright red. And if cortisone is part of your chemo cocktail, you’ve no doubt already dealt with those flaming cheeks.
Wear green near your face
Meaning: a green chemo hat or a green scarf around your neck. It won’t make the redness disappear, but the presence of green will make your complexion look less red. It’s as if green and red visually neutralise each other.
Avoid shades that intensify redness, such as red itself or orange. Love fiery colours? You can absolutely still wear them — just avoid having red right up against your face. Break up the warmth with a green scarf, or choose a print that has mostly green tones.

There’s a green for everyone
Green comes in many variations. In our headwear collection, you’ll find chemo scarves and chemo hats in all kinds of greens: from soft khaki and fresh aqua to bright happy green, teal and deep forest green. There’s always a shade that matches your personal colour palette!
